In 1952, the Azalea Garden was donated to Fairmount Park. Since 1989
it has been restored on several occasions with joint partnerships
involving the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society and the Fairmount Park
Commission.
One of Philadelphia’s
most recognized gardens, the Azalea Garden at the Philadelphia Museum of
Art features just over four-acres of fantastic horticulture. More than 150 different species of azaleas and rhododendrons are intertwined with oaks, sycamores, colorful blooms and annuals.
A favorite backdrop for picnickers and photographers, the Azalea Garden is steps away from famed Boathouse Row, the Water Works and the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
